Meet Our Guides

Terry Jones

Terry JonesTerry grew up not far from the Lincoln Boyhood home in southern Indiana , Petersburg to be exact. It's on the Lincoln Heritage Trail that crosses the Wabash River at the Lincoln Memorial Bridge in Vincennes , Indiana , and leads to Springfield . About ten years ago Terry literally traveled that trail here to central Illinois to work with the United Methodist Church , also taking classes at Spoon River College in Canton and is currently working to finish his Bachelor's of History here at University of Illinois at Springfield . He moonlights as tour guide extraordinaire as guide for Mr. Lincoln's Springfield Walk for Springfield Walks. He is also employed by the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Guest Services where he has the great opportunity to help introduce thousands of people to our greatest President. Terry has been fortunate enough to be with the museum to see its first visitor and its recent one millionth. At the ALPM Terry is involved with some of the interpretation of the museum, doing first person living history.

"Mr. Lincoln's life and legacy have always been great interests, but that has grown into a new passion for me, and I am fascinated by the people and environments that have equipped and molded him in preparation for the great destiny that was bestowed upon him. I am excited to explore and share the stories with you so all of us can experience Mr. Lincoln's Springfield and maybe help us find our own 'greater tasks' before us." - Terry Jones
