Day of President Abraham Lincoln's assassination at Ford's
Theater in Washington D.C.
April 15th
At 7:22 AM the 16th president of the United States dies from
a single gun shot wound to the back of his head.
May 3rd
The body of President Abraham Lincoln posthumously returns to
Springfield, Illinois and lies in respose inside the Old State Capitol.
May 4th
Day of Abraham Lincoln's final funeral and he is laid to rest
in Oakridge Cemetery.
August 14th, 15th, 16th
Three days of racial rioting occurs in Springfield
and gains national attention. This riot sparks national debate and leads
to the formation of the NAACP.
